Before the public nuisance law suit is even filed in Dewitt County Court identifying Clinton Landfill as a public water nuisance 14 units of local government have agreed to meet the demands of Clinton Landfill to continue landfilling operations located inside the “Mahomet sole source aquifer” (water supply for nearly one million central Illinois residents).
Local Government leaders have decided that forcing Clinton Landfill to shut down and not endanger the water supply for nearly one million central Illinois citizens, that they represent, was not in their best interest.
Clinton Landfill and all 14 units of local government have now entered into an agreement to dump their regions waste in a landfill located in the middle of the Mahomet sole source Aquifer. All that is remaining is to get the court to allow poisoning the water supply for nearly one million central Illinois citizens.
Illinois law does not allow landfilling waste within 1,200 feet of the Mahomet sole source aquifer unless special precautions have been put in place. Special precautions would require a constructed “50 foot relatively impermeable stratum “separation between the landfill and the Mahomet sole source aquifer.
Clinton Landfill was not constructed with this 50 foot relatively impermeable stratum and is clearly located inside the Mahomet sole source Aquifer; both facts make Clinton Land a public water nuisance.
